January 2019

January was another great month for us.  We were successful in obtaining a grant from Quorn Parish Council which we will use to print loose-leaf songbooks for all members (with some to spare).  Our songbook will contain over 140 songs and it is our intention to get more and more of them ‘performance ready’ over the next few months so that we can offer those who seek our services a variety of sets.

After months of hard work and frustration by Mick HSBC finally set up our bank account for us.

We confirmed our three chosen charities, and are proud to support The Carpenters Arms, which is a rehabilitation centre for men, Living without Abuse, which providers support and help for anyone suffering abuse, and Coping with Cancer in Leicestershire and Rutland, which provides practical and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer.  All three are local charities.

We gained two new members this month, taking our total membership to 26.  Last but not least, QUO celebrated its first birthday in January with a drink and an impromptu strum in the Quorndon Fox.

  1. Hi there,
I came to a session 2 weeks ago and would like to come again this thursday. Unfortunately after my foot operation I cannot drive and it’s too far to walk! If i could get a lift with someone, I would like to come again. Any suggestions welcome. I tried Bob Parks, but he is away this week.
